Many times when people experience pain in their back or lower extremities, they don't know it is sciatica pain they are experiencing. All they know is that the pain seems almost never-ending at times. When sciatica pain is present, it's not necessarily going to be just in the lower back, even though that's where
the sciatic nerve starts in the body. Because the sciatic nerve and all its
branches go from the lower back right down to the toes, the pain may be in any
one of those areas or all of them. This is one reason why many people are
unaware that they have sciatic pain.
One of the main causes of sciatica is a herniated disc (which is when the
nucleus breaks through the annulus) or lumbar bulging (which is when the
nucleus is contained to only the outer wall of the annulus). Another one of
the causes of sciatica is lumbar spinal stenosis; which is when the nerves are
compressed. Another reason why some people get sciatica is because of some
sort of trauma to the nervous system.
In fact, trauma to the nervous system is one of the main factors as to why people get sciatica. Another factor as to why people get sciatica is because Piriformis Syndrome; which is when the piriformis muscle irritates the sciatic nerve. Chiropratic care can help alleviate some of these problems
Many people choose to use home treatment remedies as opposed to prescription drugs or over-the-counter medications.
The combination of celery and potato juice gives excellent relief from sciatica
pain. However, the patient must drink at least 10 ounces per day for it to be
effective. The mixture of the two does not give the greatest taste, so many mix
it with carrot and beetroot juice. Carrot and beetroot juice help to improve
the flavor and are very good for you.
Celery tea is also good for sciatica pain, as well as elderberry tea. Elderberries can be used in tea as well as a regular drink. Elderberries have qualities that stimulate and relax the muscles as well as treating some of the other symptoms characteristic of sciatica.
Garlic is good for helping to give relief from different aches and pains. It
also helps improve circulation in your body. Some people buy garlic supplements and others choose to eat raw garlic. One reason garlic is so good for sciatica pain is the oxidant properties it contains. To get the maximum benefits from garlic in treating sciatica symptoms, it's important to take Vitamin B1 or B complex supplement with the garlic.
Some foods that give you natural sources of B1 are liver, beef, spinach, green peas, pork, navy beans, soybeans, bananas, whole-grain cereals and breads.
Water is also great as a home remedy for sciatica because it helps keep good
circulation going in your body, which will reduce the pain. Other important
keys to sciatica home treatment are a good diet with plenty of good healthy
exercise.
